I lift my eyes...

Psalm 121:1-2 I lift my eyes up to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.

Last week at church, the message was so resounding and has stayed with me since hearing it. It was about Psalm 121. Keeping our eyes lifted UP to God and not down on our problem. Our spiritual posture matters. In order to face challenges that come, we can't get sucked into what is happening but look UP to the one who holds it all. He is mighty and powerful. Worthy of all honor, glory and praise. He provides our rest but He doesn't close His eyes ever. He is bigger than anything we face.

It's reminders like these that we need to keep hold of when trouble comes. We look to Him. We seek His face. We stay close to Him in prayer and praise. We surrender. We realize that He is our protection, our strong tower, our peace, our comfort, our everything.

Today, I needed this message. I love how God speaks to me through messages and His Word. He shows me that He's with me. He's got this. He's working things for His glory. I'm grateful to know that He sees me where I'm at. I will choose to look up. To seek Him. Even when it's hard. Even when it doesn't make sense. Even when I want to look down.

For those of you who don't know my husband, Ian, is battling cancer and just started an aggressive chemotherapy treatment 2 days ago and it will last for 9-12 weeks. I've had struggles in my 51 years but nothing like this. It's hard to even find words to say but one thing that has been true is Psalm 121. Keeping our eyes on God, not the struggle, has been the only thing keeping us going. We know He is with us. We know that He is working through the church. We know that He is our refuge and strength. We all go through hardship. That's something that is a given as we navigate life. It's where our eyes are looking that makes all the difference.

We are surrounded by so much love, prayer, encouragement and support. Our friends and family have reminded us what walking through life together truly means. Our hearts are full and it's through them our eyes stay fixed on God. He's showing up for us through all of them. He is where our help comes from... no question. So whatever you may be navigating, look up. Don't focus on the problem. Look up. Seek God. Give it up to Him. Allow His peace to surround you. It's not easy and that's where your tribe comes in. They lift your head when you don't have the strength to do it yourself.

Much love,

Darlene
