Harvesting from Abundance

It never ceases to amazing me what God does with a little bit of faith. Last month, Rachel and I decided to stretch ourselves and create a message to give in 20 days to whomever God brought to the space to hear. 20 days isn't a long time, especially when you want to allow God the ability to share His desired message to be shared! Usually it takes me at least 90 days!

Often times in preparing a message, oppression can come in a variety of ways and this event was no different. The enemy tried to push us down, but we are familiar with his schemes and pushed through. What I want to share is a little bit of the message we shared. When Rachel and I speak together, we only know the premise of what we each will talk about but we don't share our messages with each other, so it's a gift to us when we hear what God has given each of us so speak. It's amazing how in sync the messages are.

Rachel had it on her heart to remind us of the importance of our time with God. In the Word, in prayer, spending time dwelling with Him. He is always there, the question is more of do we seek Him out to spend our time with Him? We are all given the same amount of time in a day... how much do we give to Him? If we want to feel His presence with us, we need to be intentional with our time with Him. Studying His Word and in prayer, which is simply, talking to God. She did a thoughtful activity where we each had a small vial with rice in it, representing our time. By adding one gold kernel of rice, representing time with God, we can see Him in our time here and there but not much. By adding 2-3 more gold kernels, more time carved out, we can see those gold kernels more often in our vial of time, keeping Him in sight more. The more we give Him our time, the more we see Him in our daily lives.

I shared about living our lives in the abundance of God. Seeing what He has equipped us with, how His provision and providence is always with us but the question is do we see it and do we live in it? Often times, we strive for more, when He is enough. I talked about a variety of things but wanted to ensure that we recognize that the world gives us a scarcity mindset... we see what we are MISSING and not what we HAVE. With a small amount of faith, that of a mustard seed, is enough to produce a harvest of abundance in our lives. More so, what we give God out of obedience to Him, He WILL multiply. God's math is NOT our math! Five loaves and two fish fed over 5,000 ... WITH LEFTOVERS! We try to give from our strength and control, and wonder why we are exhausted. Give from HIS abundance and our cup will overflow. I also talked about how the harvest is plenty but the workers are few. The reminder that there's work to do. We need to step out in faith and do the work that God has prepared in advance for us to do. All it requires of us is to talk to God and have faith in the steps we take for Him. Connecting others to Him is not from ourselves, it's an act of God's supernatural power. All we need to do is listen and act. One conversation can change everything.

So, what can you do to live in an abundance mindset over a scarcity one? Talk to God. Listen. Be in His Word. Talk more to Him. Draw close to Him and He will draw near to you. How can you become a worker in the field? Listen and act. Be courageous when you're feeling His nudge. I've seen this work time and time again. He is faithful when we do what He is prompting. One person and conversation at a time. Watch the ripple happen.
